What is an R&D Coordinator?

The concept of a Research and Development Coordinator (RDC) position, and an industry association R&D network, was developed in 2001 by NRC-IRAP and the Executive Directors of four of the Atlantic Canada Aquaculture Associations.

The objectives of the RDC role is to:

  • Network with other RDCs and collaborate with Funding Agencies, Private Companies and Academic Institutions to:
    • Develop industry relevant research
    • Maximise efficiency
    • Minimise duplication
  • Communicate industry R&D priorities to enable research to focus on industry needs
  • Transfer pertinant project results back to industry
  • Connect industry to researchers as project partners
